Welcome to the Rest Stop. I hope you find something of interest to you. Most of the links on this page are things I'm interested in so feel free to explore. For those tired and weary cyber travellers who are taking some time out in a Cyber Cafe . We still have one left in this city at the moment or view the LIST of the closest near you. In case you have lost your bearings and would like to know where you are. This a place where we drive on the left hand side of the road, measure in metric, display the date backwards, spell words like "color" as "colour", have strange tribal rituals such as backyard BBQ's and not to mention our love of sports. If you need to know more click here .
My current local Time 24hr format :
These are a few of the Environmental places around the world that I believe are worth a look. Some of this material may be heavy going for some so give it a miss if you only want to be entertained. But check back every now & then for something new. Heading the list of my environmental concerns are clean beaches & zero population growth. So to all the thousands out there planning to move close by. There is only one thing more valuable than any material wealth we might obtain in our lifetime and that's lots of clean healthy space to live in.
EnviroNET Australia A network of environmental links around Australia and elsewhere.
Seymour Salmonoid Society Protecting one of many salmon habitats in Canada.
Green Peace Well known out here for their work in trying to stop the French nuke tests in the South Pacific. Hence the Frenchies fetish for every Green Peace boat afloat if their not blowing them up they're stealing them.
Planet Ark An Environmental Multi Media centre.
ANBG Visit the National Botanic Gardens right here in Canberra and smell the flowers well....at least hear the birds.
Byron Bay Not really a environmental site but one of my favourite places. But now it could do with a lot less buildings and less people living there.* DO IT YOURSELF * What self respecting "Tool Man" wouldn't have a copy of Popular Mechanics somewhere. Well here is the site with lots of other goodies as well. Also some "tool men" have been known to sneak a peak at a Handy Man Book while he is sure others aren't watching. Want to sneak in some more tips then check out this site. Home Improvement Net Tips
OZ LINKS
Beyond ....The Black Stump more links than you can imagine. This is a OZ MEGA site, one of the best
Sydney 2000 The Next Olympic Extravaganza is fast approaching. I'm sure if you bribed someone your seat would be assured and if that doesn't work come as a IOC delegate.
Australian Wines Links to Australian Wine ....I have to admit to indulging once in a while.
The John Laws Fortress Australia's most successful radio commentator. He has a woeful taste in music but still manages large audiences around the country. Hear that plus more in real audio weekly highlights, some are quite funny

This site gives you a start to find a e-mail address or at least someone you can write to even if you know not to hold your breath waiting for a reply.OZ Restaurant Guide For locals looking for somewhere to dine out then try this site.
Other to visit
I have always been curious about things yet discovered so I aligned myself with the name. It also helps being a Trek fan.Looking for something on the INTERNET that is proving to be elusive then your troubles are over. If there is a web page or news group item out there then sooner or later Alta Vista will find it. If that doesn't work then try the Yahoo web pages they use the same search engine technology . Yahoo!
* Software Connections *
Basically these are sites for those of you who have everything (software wise) but still must have that utility that can give you the first 50,000 digits on the square root of four.
Linux is a real multitasking operating system without all the bells & whistles of windows. But for those who like to tinker with every little detail then it's worth a look. Besides I like the Linux logo it's much cuter than a flying window. Plus to get back to the command line mode instead of clicking on a icon is like recovering your youth!
Shareware.com Lots & Lots of goodies here with a great interface.
Stroud's CWSApps Software for the internet a TOP class site
Calypso A E-mail program that is outstanding with more features than you can you could ever use. Including multiple mail boxes, security, etc.. It almost writes your mail for you!
A must visit site for any WIN 95 and NT user. Software & plug in utilities to help make 95 -98 what you might have hoped for.98Lite is a modified Windows 98 install or Explorer 4.+ removal program that gives at least a 10 - 20% performance improvement on windows 98. So despite what Bill says about Explorer being a integral part of the 98 operating system. It just shows you how much processor grunt is being wasted just by having a few pretty icons waiting in limbo.
Some of the theme content on this site was obtained from a great web resource that has innovative graphics and ideas. Be sure to check it out. It sure saves reinventing the wheel for those of us that are pushed for time but won't admit to not being creative. *smile*
